  1. Portability

    Does Texpandr run from a thumbdrive?

    Yes. Keep the Texpandr folder on your USB drive, launch Texpandr.exe, and your phrases file stays beside the executable.

  2. Compatibility

    Why is expansion not working in some apps?

    Run Texpandr as Administrator. Windows elevation differences can block global keyboard hooks in elevated applications.

  3. Phrases

    Can phrases contain multiple lines?

    Yes. Abbreviations remain single-line while full phrases can include line breaks and paragraphs.

  4. Usage tip

    How do I avoid accidental triggers?

    Use dot-prefixed shortcuts like .sig, .addr, and .ty.

  5. Privacy

    Does Texpandr collect or extract any data?

    No. Texpandr does not read, log, or transmit the content you type. It only watches for your own abbreviations and replaces them locally, so patient information never leaves the workstation.

  6. Security

    Is Texpandr connected to the cloud?

    No. Texpandr runs fully offline with no accounts, sync, or network calls. Your phrases.json lives only on your thumbdrive or local machine, which removes an entire class of cloud-based risk.
